A week later at the RADCO lab, testing was underway and the Muraflo team and RADCO staff expectantly awaited the results…
Success – the Mura-Tile System passed product testing with flying colors.
Zoom forwards two months to December 2014, when Muraflo completed the final phase of certification which included an inspection of quality procedures at Muraflo’s new facility in Del Mar, California.
What a way to wrap up the year, with completion of ICC Evaluation Service’s certification process and an officially approved… ICC-ES PMG Listing!
After lunch at the RADCO lab, installation continued. The products which required testing as part of ICC-ES certification were our largest sized Standard Collection Mura-Tile Shower Surround and Tray, measuring 36″ deep by 60″ wide by 7′ high. The surround and tray featured ‘Oro’ porcelain tile, tray tile mosaic and listello. RADCO helped make the process a smooth one.
“RADCO is a nationally recognized Independent Third-party Testing, Listing and Inspection Agency for building systems and materials.”
After leveling the floor area and installing the tray in this one of a kind installation, the Muraflo team moved on to installing the nine panels required to finish the surround. To complete the installation, the interpanel seams were grouted and the corners and tray seam caulked. The preparation and installation took just four hours to complete.
Onwards and upwards… Literally…
In mid-October 2014, the Muraflo team were involved in a VERY unconventional installation; even by Muraflo standards. We were at the RADCO lab in Long Beach, California, installing our Mura-Tile Shower Surround and Shower Tray products ready for independent testing as part of an official certification process through ICC-ES.
“ICC-ES is an industry leader in performing technical evaluations for code compliance, providing regulators and construction professionals with clear evidence that products comply with codes and standards.”
Shower trays and surrounds are not typically installed on a meter high platform, neither are framing studs typically built in a warehouse with open space all around them. But, this was the set up required for testing and, with some creative installation procedures and help from the fantastic RADCO team, the installation got underway.
It all began with the shower tray…
